Philippine Holidays October 31, 2011 is a special non-working holiday and November 1, 2011 is a regular holiday… 4 day weekend yo!

As per President Benigno Aquino’s Proclamation No. 265, Monday, 31 October 2011, is declared as a SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY throughout the country.

Last December 2010, the President declared Tuesday, 1 November 2011, as a special (non-working) day through Proclamation No. 84.

Since Monday, 31 October 2011, falls between Sunday and Tuesday, 1 November 2011 (All Saints Day), which has been traditionally declared a special (non-working) day throughout the country; October 31 will now be a NO WORK DAY to give full opportunity to our people to properly observe the day with all its religious fervor which invariably requires them to travel to and from different regions of the country.

This means a 4-day long weekend!!!!  All together now, say, HAPPINESS!!!! 🙂  it’s time to visit our loved ones who have passed on and make most on rest.

Halloween 2009, Magnet Cafe

After a coupla months, the Sabi family met again. A few people were missing in action –Yssah, Reggie, NA, Chay and Mon.

We attended the Halloween event of Magnet Café at Bonifacio High Street last Saturday.  I love Halloween and seeing people dress up in their creative costumes.  I particularly like the funny ones and ones that stir an evocative memory.  I was planning to come as “leftover.”  But we were running out of time that both CW and I just went as we are –“boring people.”

Carlo and Martin looking at Nacho Libre

I enjoyed some of the dance music, but it was mostly house music -which I couldn’t relate much to.  I just gorged on my order of Magnet’s Beef Kebab with curry rice.  It was delicious.

It was good to see Team Sabi once again and my heart melt listening to Carlo and Shiela recount the proposal.  They also shared their wedding preps and I got to hand it to these two trimming their guest list to the “essentials.”  From the now 12 friends I know who are getting/got married (between June 2009 – October 2010), Carlo and Shie have the least number of guests (less than 100!) for the actual wedding reception.  They are planning another party for the rest that didn’t make the tight cut. This seemed most practical when they were explaining the plan.  I’m so excited for them.

They wanted to wed on 10-10-10 but since the church of choice (Sanctuario de San Jose) was already fully booked, wedding date is now 10-8-10 (still a pretty good number to remember if you ask me –it’s my dad’s birth date). Carlo asked if I could read during the ceremony –which makes me both nervous and ecstatic. Still finalizing the other details but all the Sabi family (even those MIA) are in high spirits with regard to this union.

The Woman to Spend the Rest of My Life with

Carlo Genato and Shiela Bermudez are engaged!!!

My friend Carlo (a.k.a. Kyle, Carlopot, Clo-clo to me), my closest guy officemate in the previous company, finally asked the hand of his girlfriend, the ever-pleasant Shiela.

Carlo and Shiela go a loooooong way back and their history and path have led them to this point in their lives.

10-10-10 sounds like a good wedding date!  (Carlo, you’ll never have a problem remembering when asked)

Both of you are closing a chapter in your life, as Richard Bach would say, true love stories never have endings.

Lots of love to you Carlo and Shiela!
