After running 10 laps, I run out of gas and I had to stop to catch my breath.  That’s mighty fine if you are exhausting your body’s supply of energy and hence, causing that specific activity you’re engaged in to come to a halt.  It’s different though when I’m cooking and I run out of gas, literally gas in my gas range, causing my stove’s fire to putter and vanish… then that just puts my momentum and whatever I am boiling, steaming, poaching, frying to a halt.

For some dishes, it can be detrimental to put your cooking at a long stand still.  For instance, I’m cooking pasta and the gas ran out, I cannot let the pasta soak in the water for too long as it will absorb all those water like an angry sponge.

It can’t be helped that we do run out of gas from time to time as gas range consumption is regular since cooking food at home is one of the basic necessities –whether you cook your own food or a cook / house help does it for you.  It’s not my role to cook at home but I do it from time to time.  Most of the time, it’s the help who calls my or my mom’s attention when our Shellane is empty.  For decades, my mom has been entrusting our kitchen with the brand of Shellane.  I think that practice was even passed on to her from lola who loves to cook.  Shellane has recently rebranded to something that also has the same ring in the ear, Solane.
