House of Obagi Blue Peel Radiance

In my whole life, I have never had a chemical peel… or any peeling for that matter.  It always scared me and I’ve seen the actual peeling from girl friends who have taken it some years back and the white skin tissues were really shedding off their faces.  My trip to Europe last month had me slow-baking under the sun for long hours.  Their sun doesn’t set around 6pm like in Manila.  It sets around 9-930pm so can you imagine the hours of sun exposure on my face?  I noticed a bit of sun damage on my face.  These tiny pinkish reddish dots and unevenness started bothering me.

Blue Peel Radiance

Walking the Streets of Florence 🙂

I had a chat with Sophie of beautynomics.com during a dinner at Sentro and she suggested getting a professional opinion from House of Obagi.  She also mentioned that Blue Peel Radiance treatment might just be the answer to my worry but advised to consult with an expert first.

I set my appointment three Saturdays ago and visited House of Obagi (HOO) branch in SM North EDSA.  I first had a consultation with their in-house derma.  She checked my skin and talked about skin care habits.  We were of the same age so we easily related to each other’s skin issues and future concerns.  She went on to explain about the different kind of peels and what treatment will be good for my specific skin concern.

Just as Sophie thought, the dermatologist recommended Blue Peel Radiance, House of Obagi’s newest peel treatment.  Compared to Blue Peel and TruPeel that are more pervasive chemical peel, Blue Peel Radiance is a lighter peel that has zero downtime and is low maintenance.  Low maintenance just means washing your face with facial wash, no applying of creams or anything else (lessening make-up use), and regularly using sun block for at least 1 week.  This suits me best since lately I barely have enough time in the morning or evening for an extensive skin care regimen.

Pond’s Gold Radiance Serum and Reviving Eye Cream

I didn’t think I would need skin care products until I’m probably mid-30s.  I did start thinking about it 4 years ago, when I was 24 and a girl friend of mine was 27 that time.  I slept over her place a few times and noticed that she was adamant on following her beauty regimen every night before going to bed and every morning before heading out to work.  She was already using eye cream at that time and I wondered why she had to because in my eyes, she had good skin and barely had any wrinkles in the eye area.

I also had the pre-conception that eye cream should only be used when you already have “crows” or wrinkles around the sides of the eyes.  I thought wrong.  I learned that skin care, particularly moisturizing, is essential as early as mid-20s.

Pond’s Gold Radiance, the Midas touch of skin

What’s New with Pond’s Flawless White and Pure White

About 3 months ago, I started trying out the Pond’s Gold Radiance line –first product I used was the Youth Reviving Eye Cream.  Noticeably, right after application, there are gold-micro particles in the eye area.  It does give the skin an instant glow… little sparkles that lit the eye area.

Most of the time, skin and beauty products are created to solve acne-problems and ageing skin.  But other than the top two skin concerns, women also battle with the issues of uneven skin tone and dullness.  How do we combat dullness?  When we were younger, our skin had that natural glow.  There was a shine that illuminated a youthful aura.  With stress, toxic environment, pollution and a thousand things on our minds, that young-looking gleam loses steam.

And no matter how polished our outfits or makeup are during our career-forming years, our face seems to not carry that glimmer that youth openhandedly bequeathed us.

That is exactly what Pond’s Gold Radiance aims to resolve.  Pond’s Gold Radiance combines the perfect ingredients, successful formula used in their previous lines, with the benefits of Gold.  Pond’s Institute study of gold and its anti-ageing elements re-energize the lost radiance of ageing skin cells.  Pond’s Gold Radiance line is infused with 98.5% gold flakes, using real gold micro-particles, that make the skin rich and radiant without looking over-moisturized.

In this new range, Pond’s addresses the four dimensions of skin dullness: texture, color, evenness of tone and hydration.  It diminishes fine lines and wrinkles, existing spots and infuses skin with vital nourishment and stimulates its natural regenerative processes to restore the healthy translucence characteristic of fresh, young skin.

I think I still look young around the eyes so I can’t be too certain if Pond’s Gold Radiance Reviving Eye Cream stripped off years off my eyes… I did observe though that the gold micro-flakes/dust really provide an instant luster to my eyes, even waking up after a long night.

Three days ago, I started using the Pond’s Gold Radiance serum.  Nothing substantial to report yet but it definitely also has that immediate luminescence effect on the face and my skin seemed to be softer and moist to the touch too.  Let’s see how it goes in the next 4 days.

As mentioned in the previous entry, Tweetie De Leon-Gonzales is the endorser and face behind Pond’s Gold Radiance line.  While you recapture the radiance of youth with Pond’s Gold Radiance like Tweetie, get a chance to win of the three half karat diamond rings!

Starting this February, if you BUY PHP 1,000 worth of Pond’s Gold Radiance, you get a chance to WIN a charm bracelet or any one of the three half karat diamond rings!  You’ve hit the gold mine when it comes to radiant skin, if LUCKY, together with precious jewelry, you’d really shine.

Tweetie De Leon-Gonzales and Her Youthful Glowing Skin

As mentioned in my previous post, last February 1, 2011 (yes that date is special to me), along with other fashion/beauty/lifestyle bloggers, I shared an intimate dinner with top model and jewelry designer Tweetie De Leon-Gonzales.  Tweetie is quite known for playing “Faye” in the hit TV series, Okay Ka Fairy Ko, with her magic “scissor” fingers and effervescent beauty that encapsulates what a fairy should be.  Glowing like there’s an endless supply of pixie dust.

Other than the decade-long hit TV series, Tweetie is famous for being one of Philippines’ most successful and admired models.  She began her career in the modeling industry at an early age of 14, juggling it with getting a degree of Philosophy in the University of the Philippines.  She became Anne Klein’s image model and later on sat as the president of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines.

Just like gold, Tweetie has never lost her “luster.”  And that was so noticeable up-close, from beautiful skin to a sparkling simple personality.  We all can take inspiration from her.  From making a mark in the modeling industry, entering the world of showbiz as an actress, designing jewelry to being a mother of four – she continues to remain endearing and radiant.

Tweetie is still very much present in Philippine television and Metro Manila billboards with her various endorsements from shampoo, make-up, soda, milk and more.  She now takes over the beauty industry as she continues to exemplify radiance with her youthful glowing skin perfectly epitomizing Pond’s latest line that addresses anti-aging.

Pond’s Philippines unveiled Tweetie as the face for Pond’s latest anti-aging line Pond’s Gold Radiance.

Pond’s Senior Brand Manager Jacqe Yuengtian says, “Pond’s Gold Radiance is a breakthrough product in anti-aging and Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez is the epitome of youthful beauty and radiance.  We are excited to have her as our newest endorser.”

Tweetie adds, “In my long years in the business, I’m always in search for the product ideal to my lifestyle and my skin.  With Pond’s Gold Radiance, the line has made it possible for me to retain the radiant glow of my skin given my age and my active day-to-day activities.”

During the dinner at Shang Palace in Makati Shangri-la, Tweetie shares with us her lifestyle and beauty regimen.  It took some time for her to use face/beauty products because she only started noticing breakouts when she was in her 30s.  Like many women, she was also in search of the best beauty products to complement her skin needs.  Trying Pond’s Gold Radiance for herself for a couple of months, she has seen impeccable changes in the texture of her skin.  Her skin felt richly moisturized without the oily effect.

Other than playing Squash racquets, hitting the gym, avoiding make-up as much as she can, Tweetie now uses the Pond’s Gold Radiance line in her daily beauty regimen.  “To keep my face moisturized and young looking, I start off in the morning with washing my face with the Radiance Revealed Facial Mousse then I apply Youthful Glow Day Cream.  Before going to bed, I use the mousse again, dab on the Youth Reviving Eye Cream and top it off with the Precious Youth Serum.  I feel refreshed from day to night and there’s really that different glow in my skin,” says Tweetie.

Tweetie favorably endorses the best product that addressed her skincare needs.  Pond’s Gold Radiance gives her that luster and radiance to keep her looking young.  “It’s really perfect for women my age. It’s continues to give you that confidence of feeling radiant and beautiful,” she says.  However, she still believes that living well and doing exercise are also key factors in keeping young, fit, and healthy.

Other than her timeless beauty, effortless grace, and natural elegance, it’s no secret that Tweetie is indeed glowing with radiant skin.  The new range of Pond’s, Gold Radiance, completely enhances that youthful radiance.

Missing Make-up Again

First time I lost my make-up kit was some time 2004 I think.  I was still with SE then and we were at Glorietta 4 going around.  From the Glorietta 4 entrance (near Breadtalk), we alighted the escalator going to the second floor.  We were talking until two guys in front of me picked up something on the step right before the edge of the escalator, which blocked our way.  I was so nervous at the thought that we would collide with them that I said, “excuse me” loudly.  They were able to stand up just in time that we had enough space to step into the 2nd floor without bumping into them.

As we turned towards the next escalator, I told SE that I’d go back down and check quickly on the Terranova store.  I agreed to follow and meet him in the upper floors.  When I entered Terranova, I clutched my bag and found it open.  I immediately checked what was missing.  Thank goodness, it was only my make-up kit that they were able to get, probably mistaken it for a wallet.  I felt bad that time because I’m the type who’s really attached to my things (I guess it’s the OC behavior) and even if it’s only a highlighter or pen, I’d feel really bad losing it.  I’m so particularly careful with my things.  What more if I lose different items at the same time?  Such is the same in the case of a make-up kit.

Thankfully, I got over it a few days later since my mom bought me replacement (plus I was using L’Oreal powder foundation that time which is way more cheaper than EL) and because I thought I was luckier not to get more valuable stuff stolen.  I’m sure the culprit/s (it’s a widespread escalator-thieving modus operandi up to this date) weren’t gunning for my make-up stash.  They probably thought it was my wallet.

Last Saturday, Bubba and I went around to canvass furniture in Hemady, Pioneer area, and Greenhills.  Trying to make my bag lighter, I removed the make-up kit and placed it on the side pocket of the car door.  I’ve done this maybe 8 times before but never had any problem.  Sunday, I realized that I didn’t have it in my bag and immediately looked inside the car.  It was gone.

Two points where I probably lost it:

  1. In Greenhills, Bubba went back to the car and got something out of my side of the car thus opening that passenger door.  His leg must have bumped into it?  Or I might have bumped into it at one point or another getting in and out of the car and I didn’t notice.
  2. We had dinner at La Tienda that evening.  I debated whether to change clothes and shoes (I was wearing a shirt, shorts and Fit Flops.  There’s a dress code at La Tienda and most of Makati restaurants.  I asked out front if I needed to change, they let me in without having to change into my shoes even.)  I think I debated inside my head whether or not I should freshen up.  I don’t have any recall if I grabbed my make-up kit.  I went straight inside the washroom when we came in.  I might have placed it on the counter and left it there.

We called La Tienda yesterday and called 3-4 times to check but the staff said they didn’t find anything.

I went on a cleaning rampage yesterday that took me until almost 12mn to finish because I felt really really really bad.  I even cleaned my big make-up bag at home and threw some old stuff.  There’s nothing to use there for my day-to-day, it’s mostly eyeshadows, lipsticks –basically variants in case I need to put heavy make-up on for an occasion or an office Christmas program or something.  I had no appetite for dinner last night.  I didn’t eat lunch today.  All I had was sky flakes.

I’m sure somebody else must have found it.  Upon seeing the contents, I know there’s no personal interest in it for them.  Besides, why would anyone want to use a used make-up on their face?  What if I had warts or some skin infection?  But it’s nowhere to be found and nobody has returned it.

You see I don’t use much make-up on my face.  Lipstick, lipgloss, eyeshadow, blush can last me up to 1 year and even beyond that because when I do use them, I only need to put a little.  I’m not good at putting on make-up anyway so I just stay with the basics.  Less means less mistakes.  What I usually run out of is powder but that even takes 6-9 months before I need to replenish.

Inside the small pouch:

Estee Lauder Cyberwhite Powder Refill PHP 2,150 (I just bought 2 weeks ago)

Estee Lauder Powder Case approx. PHP 1,800 (2 years old)

Lancome Juicy Tubes Fraise approx. PHP 1,150 (almost full, bought in August 2009)

Lancome Mascara L’Extreme Black approx. PHP 1,500 (almost dried out but only 2 months old)

Lancome Eye Pencil (free with a Lancome promo before)

Lancome Flash Retouche Concealer approx. PHP 1,995 (about ¼ full)

Shu Uemera Glow On Blush approx. PHP 1,500 (can still last me for 1 whole year or more)

Cheap lipstick I got in Japan Yakuyen Store (can still last me for 1 whole year or more)

L’Oreal Lip Gloss PHP 200 (I got on a sale)

Cheap Eye Shadow I got in Japan Yakuyen Store (1 light pink shade out –2 darker pink shades can still last me until end of 2010)

Oral B Travel Toothbrush approx. PHP 75 (2 months old)

Tommy Hilfiger Make-up Pouch (gift from my ninang in 2005 which I only used in 2007)

TOTAL: approx. PHP 10,370

It’s so heartbreaking.  It takes time to build up that make-up library again.  And this is the only time I wished I lost my darn wonky phone instead of that.  I could have bought a new phone with that much investment.

I’m pushing the envelope with this living room project I’m currently working on.  And this “missing make-up kit” is pulling the plug on my plans.  It’s a letdown, a distraction and another financial load.  I feel like screaming and at the same time I feel like curling up in my bed and sulking 🙁

I didn’t realize that losing a make-up kit could be really depressing.

Learning Points:

  1. Never to put anything again on the side pocket of the car door
  2. Put a calling card inside the make-up kit or tag it with name and contact details (sounds silly but might help)
  3. I know I’m OC but I got to be fierce in double-checking each place I just left.  I do this regularly already but my wandering mind must have slipped and forgot
  4. Get a new bag where I can store everything without hurting my back

Fountain of Youth in Celeteque Advanced Moisturizer

Usually 30-55 year old women worry about fine lines especially the wrinkles around the eyes known as crow’s feet.  I still have some years left in me before I hit that considerable calendar birthday age (30 or 31), but I am at that stage where I should be taking steps to prevent or delay the inevitable –or at least, it was a foreseeable facial occurrence before Celeteque’s newest product.

Last Saturday, Celeteque revealed the results of their latest product challenge test.  Earlier this year, the Céleteque Advanced team created the True Results Challenge, wherein over 50 Filipina women, aged 30 to 55 years old coming from all walks of life, became part of an amazing experience that resulted in roughly around 92% of their fine lines gone in 6 weeks.

These women were present during the event and gave their own testimonies regarding their experience with the product.  Results vary but for most of them, they felt an amazing youthful transformation.  Their skins feel smoother and younger and for some, it was 92-95% less fine lines since May this year!

Jennie, Between Bites, and Lace

For 38-year old Cecile Yatco, taking part of the Challenge was one of the best things she has ever done in her life. “I was really excited to join the True Results Challenge, because it was something new” she said. “Besides, I was really curious about their claim of up to 92% less fine lines in 6 weeks. I was thinking if it could really be true.”

Johanna Huang, a 43-year old interior designer, was also amazed by the product’s efficacy. “In my third day of using the product, I actually saw my embedded white heads start to come off. By the first week, I noticed that my freckles and sunspots were getting lighter” she reminisced. “And after a month I could actually see my fine lines diminishing. It was really amazing.”

The new Céleteque Advanced Anti-Wrinkle Facial Moisturizer has the Double Peptide Complex, which penetrates deep into the skin, and helps stimulate the formation of collagen. Collagen is the natural protein that plumps up skin thus diminishing fine lines and wrinkles and renewing outer layer of damaged skin.

Seeing is believing, especially for women at this day and age who have tried so many products in the market.  There was also an assessment portion during the event where a dermatologist verifies the number of fine lines a woman has.  With the number of lines examined and recorded, the women attendees are now going to take on the “True Results” challenge and see the honest to goodness truth for themselves.

Now, smoother and younger looking skin can be yours.  Try the new Céleteque Advanced Anti-Wrinkle Facial Moisturizer and see the honest to goodness truth for yourself.

RP5 Banks a Win Against Kuwait

The RP Nationals won against Kuwait, 85-71 to claim another game victory in the 25th FIBA Asia Championship at the Tianjin Gym in Tianjin, China.  Powerade-Team Pilipinas was leading throughout the game with a comfortable 19 points lead in the 4th quarter stretch.

If China clinched a win against Jordan at 7pm today, the RP5 will avoid a possible confrontation with the Chinese. Then the Jordanians square off with the Philippines in a knockout quarterfinal match.

Cyrus Baguio led the RP team with 14 points while Asi Taulava finished in double figures with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

PGMA’s Statement of Assets and Liabilities (SAL)

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s declared net worth doubled from P66.8 million in 2001 to P143.54 million in 2008, which means 114% growth.  In comparison to the other presidents, that growth rate is quite massive.  The late President Corazon Aquino’s declared net worth grew by only 4.8% from 1989 to 1992.  Fidel Ramos’ was 34.2% during his term while Joseph Estrada’s was 7.2% from 1998 to 1999.

The President’s allies said that the growth in assets must have come from real estate and stock earnings.

Malacañang claims that there are no irregularities in Pres. Arroyo’s wealth and denies that amassed wealth is from the government.

25th FIBA Asia Men’s Championship Update

Powerade-Team Pilipinas clinched its 77-70 victory against Chinese-Taipei yesterday after Willie Miller sunked a huge three-point shot.  The win is a good motivation going to a game versus defending champion Iran today.  In order to qualify for the knockout quarterfinals, Team Philippines must achieve at least one victory in its two remaining elimination round games.

Guiao is positive with the team’s chance against Iran if they continue the morale and shooting percentage from yesterday’s game.  Team Pilipinas sealed 15 of 30 three pointers with James Yap burying six triples, 3 in succession during the 3rd quarter, while Miller contributed five.  Another key element was RP team’s defense strategy that only allowed the Taiwanese shooters only one 3-point conversion in 15 attempts.

Pinoys Go Gaga Over the Lady

Tonight is the much-anticipated concert of Lady Gaga staged at Araneta Coliseum.  The tickets are supposedly sold out!  The concert produced by Ovation Productions is expected to seize an electrifying performance from Lady Gaga.  I’m not a big fan but if there’s one song that Lady Gaga can make me dance to, it’s “Just Dance.”  I loved it on the movie “Make it Happen” and it’s a cheer-upper when I hear it on the radio.

Make-Up Buys -Shu Uemura Glow On Blush, Lancome Hypnose and Estee Lauder Cyber White

My New Make-up Buys for 2009 (actually Christmas gift from Mom-ster)

Shu Uemera Blush PHP 1,500

Estee Lauder Cyber White Powder Foundation PHP 1,700

The semi-new line of powder foundation from Estee Lauder that has SPF 20/PA +

Lancome Hypnose Mascara PHP 1,500

I switched back to Lancome.  Unfortunately, the L’extreme was out of stock again so I had to be content with just getting Hypnose.  I wanted to try Virtuose but I do not like that it has a curling effect.  For some reason, I’m not a fan of curled lashes.  After using Hypnose again for 2 weeks, I realize that I like Estee Lauder Magnascopic Mascara better –or maybe I got used to it.  EL dries up faster though than Lancome.

Estee Lauder Magnascopic Mascara

I’m not a big make-up person. I still don’t know how to put eye make-up on my own or even blush properly.  My friends (hello Carlo!) used to laugh about my blush.  I’m jealous how other girls can play around with their eyes using different make-up strategies.  I was tempted to attend a make-up short seminar 2 years ago in one of the top make-up schools in Manila but I figured that 30-50 grand could go a long way somewhere else –besides, I do not have that amount in my make-up kit much more my wallet.  With this hurdle, I kept my cosmetic enhancement to the basic (powder, mascara, blush) even to big events like weddings.  Once in a while, I dabble into shimmers and what nots, but applying them is my drawback (Rihanna’s Disturbia in my singing version “dumb dumb di dumb dumb”)

I needed to buy a new mascara 3 months ago and my favorite Lancome Hypnose mascara (sold at PHP1,500 as far as I can remember) was out of stock in black.  It was available in brown but I don’t know if I want to go brown again.  Lancome Hypnose gives volume to your eyelashes to create that “hypnotic” look.  I thought of changing to Lancome L’Extreme and try extending my lashes with the product.  Unfortunately, they were also out of stock in washable mascara at Rustan’s Shangri-la and Rustan’s Makati.  They have Lancome L’Extreme but it’s in the water-resistant formula.  I’ve tried waterproof mascara (L’Oreal dual mascara) and I really harmed my shrill lashes back then.

Lancome is one of the brands I’m really loyal to.  It started with the release of their Juicy Tubes 4-5 years ago (?), which I’m really fanatic about.

Since the Estee Lauder brand has been my favorite as of late in foundation and compacts, it was an opportune time for me to give their mascaras a shot.  They had a special offer on their Magnascopic.  For PHP 1,500, you get the mascara at its price with 2 add-ons.  They threw in an eye gel cream and a mascara remover in the pack.  It looked like a good buy then.  Although I have to say I really miss the Lancome brand.
