Buddha Bar Manila’s 5th Anniversary in Cabaret Night Style

Buddha-Bar Manila, a world-class bar that offers fine dining and entertainment experience, will celebrate its 5th anniversary with an evening of spectacular entertainment, heart-stopping music, exquisite wine, and non-stop dancing on Saturday, January 28, 2017.

The event dubbed “Cabaret Night” will feature live performances by the Silk Band, Can-Can Dancers, and Buddha-Bar’s Resident DJ Joseph Alturas. Former Myx VJ and Kulay Band member, Angel Jones will host the evening of festivities, which also coincides with the celebration of the Year of the Rooster.

“Buddha-Bar is known for bringing multiple dining and entertainment experiences for our customers. That is why aside from our relaxing lounge bar area, the culinary pleasures from the restaurant, and the good music vibes distilled by our resident DJ, we also conceptualize themed events. This time, we are bringing the extravagance and glamour of a cabaret night for our customers,” said Angelito Agustin, Head of Operations of Buddha-Bar Manila.

Buddha-Bar’s Cabaret Night starts at 9 pm and is co-sponsored by Distileria Destileria Limutuaco & Co., Emperador Distillers, Inc., and Maserati Philippines. It also offers an Open Bar promo in which for Php 1,000 per person, customers will get unlimited cocktails, wines, and spirits.

My Mother’s Garden

Bubba and I celebrated our 3rd year anniversary Wednesday night, (02-10-2010).  I volunteered to think of our dinner destination but it was a stressful week at work this week so I just passed on the task to Bubba.  He was trying to keep it a mystery but when the car hit Zamora St. somewhere in Manila, he looked at me and knew that I knew where we were headed (his forever complaint is, it’s really hard to surprise me).  With a heavy sigh and a shaking head, he said, “I should write a book entitled, How to Date a Date Expert.”  I just laughed.

The 2650 gate opened to a discreet residence with a beautiful patch of garden.  There are some tables outside where one can enjoy summer dining.  We parked conveniently inside and walked towards the house.

A classic garden-type of setting across a serene Koi pond surrounded by lush greenery sets the stage for the dining ambience in My Mother’s Garden.  The vibe of the residence of National Artist for Architecture Pablo S. Antonio follows the same warm rustic charm as the outside.

The architectural buildings that Pablo S. Antonio created are displayed in framed photographs hanging on the wall.  Bubba pre-ordered so while waiting for them to serve the dishes, I gave Bubba my gift –the music video of his surprise party.  We played it on his laptop creating a bit of a noise (alternative song by Daughtry) in the otherwise tranquil place.

The place for me is reminiscent of the relaxed feeling of dining at Casa San Pablo in Laguna

How sweet huh, we can fit 3 more people between us 😉

Happy 8th at the Great Italian Feast

We are halfway getting to our 1st year and no better way to celebrate than a romantic Italian dinner at Galileo Enoteca.

Earlier that day, Bubba surprised me when he had Island Rose deliver 1 dozen of long-stemmed roses with a sweet note.  The bouquet was a lush arrangement of the most beautiful white, pink and lavender roses I’ve ever seen.  It was delivered in a big Island Rose well-made box that had an easy to carry handle.  At first glance, I mistaken it for an IRD (decoder) box, which our channel affiliates send us to receive the signal from the satellite dish!

Galileo Deli Enoteca, one of the mostly frequented Italian restaurants, held a two-night Italian feast on August 9 and 10.   From Piedmont to Sicily, from appetizers to dolce, Galileo’s Wine and Food Festival takes you on a sweeping gastronomic tour, showcasing the natural beauty and richness of nine of Italy’s region.  The first night of the feast will be held at its main branch in Mandaluyong located at the ground floor of Reyes Gym, Calbayog cornet Malinao Streets. Then the second and last night will be held at Makati.(Source: Galileo Enoteca website) 2 kinds of Carpaccio.  3 kinds of cheeses: gorgonzola.  Liver pate, tomato salsa, mushroom on bread.  Tofu and bean sprout salad. Chicken lollies, pesto pasta. The ticket was P600 per head.  (Thanks to Floyd Tena for picking up our tickets in advance!) For P1,200, I could have gone to the grocery and whip up 4 dishes that my Bubba would have enjoyed more.
