Concert is entitled Jason Mraz: Special Acoustic Evening with Toca Rivera and tickets are available through Ticketnet.
Mr. AZ will be here and all I can say is, “I’m Yours!” All yours baby! 🙂

Bieber fans are probably all psyched up with the fact that their beloved Justin Bieber or “JB” is having a concert in Manila on May 10, 2011. Good thing that May 10, 2011 is not an election day this year. Justin Bieber fans definitely vote to go to the concert whether rain or shine.
Smart Telecommunications is producing the Justin Bieber concert in partnership with Music Management International and AEDI. The Justin Bieber Manila Concert will be held at SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.
Justin was supposed to be linked to a Filipina-American singer Jasmine Villegas but E! News recently showed a photo of Justine Bieber steamy with Selena Gomez in Cabo.
Poreotix, which is America’s Best Dance Crew, is also going to perform during the Justin Bieber Manila Concert.

After a highly successful first concert in the Philippines, Maroon 5 is coming back to the country in May for a new CONCERT. Cheers to the Maroon 5 fans, which includes Bubba, that after 3 years, Grammy award-winning band Maroon 5 will once again hit the stage in Manila and paint the air with their live music.
Much anticipated are the new songs from their third album, Hands All Over, which was released in September last year. “Hands All Over” album’s debut single, “Misery,” landed in the Top 10 of the Top 40 radio charts in the US early in its release.
But of course, Maroon 5 FANS will be happy to hear some repeats of their all time favorite Maroon 5 hit songs such as “She Will Be Loved,” “This Love,” “Won’t Go Home Without You” and “Sunday Morning.”

Timbaland feat. Justin Timberlake and Jojo Post-Concert Review:
How did you guys like the Timbaland concert? 🙂 It supposedly started at 10PM to make way for the Earth Hour? I heard a lot of people were disappointed that JT didn’t really dance that much and production was only so-so? How true is that? Would love to hear your feedback!
POV -it’s still fantastic to see JT and Timbaland and Jojo no matter what! 😉
Cheers!
—
***UPDATE*** Timbaland concert will supposedly start at 930 PM tonight to make way for Earth Hour.
It’s the time of the year again when we show Mother Earth that we still care.
It’s as simple as the flick of a switch.
The lights will go out for one hour on March 27 at 8:30 pm Manila time – wherever you live on planet earth. It’s called Earth Hour – and it’s our best bet at stopping climate change.
But instead of just expressing your support tonight, you can show it the whole year by being more environment conscious and joining groups that help save the planet. Manileños can start with helping revive the Pasig River.

A lot of my friends were excited about the Paramore concert. 2 days after the Manila gig, there’s a big buzz on the net. I didn’t watch the Paramore concert but from what I read online I think there were a lot of unhappy VIP ticket holders because their area was switched with the Gold ticket holders. There was no advise that they were going to switch the Gold and VIP sections –a compelling reason why most VIP ticket holders are asking for refunds. Bottom line seems to be that they didn’t enjoy the concert anymore because of all the last-minute movements and the fact that they feel that they paid a premium to get a closer experience of the Paramore concert.
I wonder what really happened?
The concertgoers are there to enjoy the music and overall experience. It’s sad to know that a lot of Paramore fans went home upset.
The Timbaland concert featuring Jojo and Justin Timberlake is already on March 27. I’m not really keen on watching a concert in open grounds after a hot and tiring Chris Brown & Rihanna concert in Manila in 2008. I guess I’m just not really big on outdoor concerts –being used to the air-conditioned and seated ambience of Araneta Coliseum.
But since it’s Justin Timberlake and Timbaland and Jojo. I can make an exemption. I can feel that this concert will be a blast!!! 🙂
I surefire don’t want to jinx it so I won’t give too much details but… I met with someone from MTV last week and… *crossing my fingers* I’m just all excited about it.
I hope there won’t be any last minute shuffling there! 😉

***UPDATE*** Timbaland concert will supposedly start at 930 PM tonight to make way for Earth Hour.
Rumor has it that Timbaland will have a concert in Manila and his special guest is supposedly Justin Timberlake!!! I love Timbaland but shouldn’t it be the other way around –a JT concert in Manila featuring Timbaland? At any rate, I don’t mind who’s on the spotlight but I would love to see both Justin Timberlake and Timbaland in one show -it would be one sizzling performance!!!
U92 is launching, which is the push behind the concert of Timbaland who is supposedly coming to Manila together with Jojo and JT. I’m so excited to get confirmation on this soon. My only gripe is, I wish it was going to be held in Araneta Coliseum.

The Killers Asia Tour is canceled, which means there is no show happening in Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong, Manila, Tokyo and Seoul.
Their press release says that the band has been forced to cancel their upcoming appearances in the places mentioned above due to unforeseen circumstances.
Reports are circulating that The Killers are disbanding –for the second time. Their PR group is yet to confirm if this is true.
Meanwhile, the recent press release states that the band deeply apologizes to their fans and is looking to reschedule the canceled shows.
Bubba bought three tickets –one for himself, one for my soul sistah Madz, and for me (I’m puzzled why I’m included in the equation) although I do listen to some of their songs.
How soon will Ticketnet refund our tickets?

Alanis ’09: Thank U
Celebrating the continuing legacy of Alanis Morissette
November 14, 2009, 9:00 PM
Route 196, 196 Katipunan Avenue Extension, Quezon City
Cover charge of P150 w/ 1 drink
Featuring:
– Beng Calma of DRIP
– Top Junk
– Paramita
– Swissy
– Mozzie
– Tether
– Kooky Tuazon
(Plus other surprise performers)
Like-minded companions
The Alanissettes are a group of Morissette admirers brought together by their love for the singer/songwriter’s music and lyrics. Their admiration for Morissette began in 1995 when she released the album Jagged Little Pill, which captured the teen and pre-adult population worldwide.
Though loyal followers since their teen years, it was only a few years ago in 2005 when the kindred spirits met thru a fansite Alanis2.com manned by the group’s appointed leader, Ed Cruz. Ed met co-founders Alain Decena and Camille Hernandez in different events and situations. He met Alain by accident in his workplace and met returning fan Camille via an exchange of emails until agreeing to convene for a usual chitchat between like-minded companions. It wasn’t long until the three were introduced and are now inseparable.
Together with their web of friends, the group member are staunch supporters of local music particularly emerging artists who share their love for well written lyrics and decent tunes. They are habitués of rock and music havens SaGuijo, Route 196 and Cubao X, which gave Ed Cruz the idea of doing a tribute for their beacon of music, Alanis Morissette. And what better way to call their group other than The Alanissettes.
The name Alanissettes came about as a running joke while planning for a friend’s career path over a bottle of beer, it was in fact a prank name Camille used to call on friends in a mall’s public address system in the mid-90s.
Head on to Route 196 and celebrate the music of Alanis Morissette on November 14! 🙂

Remember Boyzone, Irish band with a string of hits in the 1990s? -the band of Ronan Keating and the complete rival of Backstreet Boys then?
The Boyzone singer Stephen Gately, 33, died last weekend while on holiday in Majorca off the coast of Spain. He was vacationing in Majorca with his partner Andrew. Gately, married his partner Andrew Cowles in a civil union in 2006. He revealed 10 years ago that he was gay.
He reportedly died after a night out.

Taylor Swift, the cutest American country pop singer, won Best Female Video in MTV’s Video Music Awards and bested out Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Beyonce.
She took the stage to accept the award and deliver her thanks when Kanye West suddenly jumped on stage and grabbed her microphone to declare that Beyonce should have won because she had the best videos of all time.
The crowd booed the Kanye interruption and Kanye stormed off stage. Swift was left on stage flabbergasted looking at the floor before she was ushered off stage. Beyonce was as stunned as Taylor Swift.
**UPDATE**
Beyonce won Best Video of the Year, the biggest award of the VMA show, and generously shared the spotlight with Taylor Swift. Beyonce danced her way to the stage, with the Single Ladies playing on the background. “Wow, this is amazing. I remember being 17 years old, up for my 1st MTV award with Destiny’s Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life. I’d like Taylor to come out and have her moment…”
She then calls Taylor to the stage, “where are you?” The crowd cheered in uproar. Taylor comes out in a red ensemble as well, different from her silver backless gown she wore earlier during her acceptance speech, approaches Beyonce and gives her a hug.
“Maybe we could do this again,” Swift opened her statement. Like any grateful kid, she thanked the director of the video, including the fans who followed her on MySpace and Twitter and her brother’s high school for the video venue.

There is a new American Idol and it’s Kris Allen. KRIS ALLEN, ladies and gentlemen.
Gotta give props to Adam Lambert because he was really a superstar all throughout the competition and he brought AI to a whole new level –singing and stage presence –wise.
Kris Allen despite missing some key notes in Kara DioGuardi’s written song, No Boundaries, triumphs as the last man standing in Season 8 of American Idol. Even if Adam did a better performance hitting the notes, I feel that Kris’ acoustic rock voice suits the song better than Adam’s mellow Aerosmith voice.
Other than the star-studded guest list that includes Kiss and Queen, Kara DioGuardi made the season finale more memorable with an epic showdown between her and “bikini girl” Katrina Darrell. Not so long ago during the auditions, Kara pointed out that Katrina didn’t hit the right notes. Katrina made a sarcastic rebuttal that distressed Kara to showing her how it’s properly done.
At the end of the singing duel, Kara unveiled her bikini body by unbuttoning her trench dress to flash a black string bikini she had on underneath. Ryan commented that by flashing the world at the end of the song, Kara won a bet and a donation to charity.

In other news, Hayden Christensen (no, not the infamous local doctor with scandalous videos) and Djimon Honsou stars in Mandrake the Magician adaptation. Anakin Skywalker of Star Wars is supposed to do the lead role in the film “Mandrake.” MTV news however reports that a representative from Hayden’s camp denies that he has anything to do with the film.
The movie co-star Djimon Honsou will follow Hayden’s character, an “underground magician and escapologist” who is approached by the CIA to do some work after “a daring escape from an SUV that has been dropped out of an plane at the Burning Man Festival. Hounsou will presumably be taking on the role of Mandrake’s assistant, Lothar. I love Djimon Honsou in Blood Diamond and I cannot wait to see another film with him in it.
The Zeitgeist and Moon movies are the two movies I want to watch soon. Have you seen Zeitgeist?

For a change, it was Bubba who planned everything about the Bangkok trip –which is actually his birthday gift for me this year. Our flight was scheduled at 1030am. It was a 2-hour and half flight and we arrived in Bangkok as scheduled around 1pm. Bangkok is an hour behind Manila time.
I cannot believe that a sea of people was traveling that same weekend to Bangkok. The immigration line was pretty long and it moved slower than a turtle on a race! It took us 45 minutes to an hour to get out of the Bangkok airport. Before leaving the airport, we booked a tour by the group tours booth near the exit area. The tour for us both with private car and an English-speaking tour guide for half-day was only PHP500, which to us was pretty cheap.
We hailed an airport cab to bring us to our hotel. We stayed at the Baiyoke Boutique Hotel, which is Baiyoke Sky’s boutique hotel. I’ve heard of boutique hotels (small hotels with themes/concepts) but this is actually the first time I am staying in one. After checking in and settling down, we explored the Pratunam Area, which is the heart of a lot of street markets and shopping malls.
After a few hours of going around and familiarizing ourselves with the neighborhood, we decided to rest and get refreshments. We spotted Black Canyon Coffee and decided to take a break there.
On the Table
Chicken Green Curry (Gaeng Kiew Whaan Gai) BHT 85
Pasta in Spicy Prawn “Tom Yum Goong” Soup BHT 85
Chicken with Vietnamese Sausage Meal BHT 85
Tamarind Juice BHT
Orange Juice BHT
By 4pm, we flagged a cab and asked to be taken to Lumpini Stadium to catch some Muay Thai action, which supposedly starts at 5pm. To our disappointment, the cab driver said there was no Muay Thai that day. We continued our shopping instead. Bubba couldn’t believe that the online schedule for Muay Thai was wrong. I suggested asking another cab driver since the one we’ve asked might have misunderstood us. Whatever the case is, the Suan Lum Night Market was right next to the stadium. We can just check out the night market if the first cab driver was right. The second driver brought us to the Lumpini Station, where ushers steered us to the paying booth. The first cab driver did misunderstand and now it cost us the time. There are two show times, one at 5pm and the other is at 9pm. It was almost 7pm at this time. There are only 3 sections at BHT 2,000, BHT 1,500 and BHT 1,000 per head. The farthest one is where the betters stay, so we scratched that off our list. We couldn’t decide whether or not to take the current show or wait for the next one. If we pick the current show, we are down to just 3 matches. If we pick the next show, we won’t have time to check out Suam Lum Night Market because the show ends at 11pm and the market closes at same time. We were supposed to get the second section but was told that we are not allowed to take photos in that section. The only area allowed for photography is the prime section at BHT 2,000. I tried to haggle the price but we were only given BHT 1,800 for the BHT 2,000 ticket. Grr… how retardedly expensive!
After 10 minutes of mulling it over, Bubba decided to watch the current show at BHT 1,800. When we got inside, we found out there are only 2 matches left and everything finished at 730pm. We quite enjoyed the show but felt that we paid too much to see a 20-minute show. Nevertheless, Bubba had fulfilled his goal of watching an “authentic” Muay Thai fight in the very same country where it started and was popularized.
At 8pm, we were amidst the Suan Lum Night Market. Yes, shopping again, Bubba’s favorite pastime. Thank goodness that items in Suan Lum are more interesting than those we found in the Pratunam area. There is a portion in Suan Lum that has an alley of artist stores that display their creativity in fashion, accessories, display items and paintings.
We had dinner at the Suan Lum pavilion, which reminded me immensely of Tiendesitas.
We were supposed to check out Bed Superclub but we were all so tired when we got back to the hotel that we decided to can it.
To be continued… (Bangkok Day 2)

The Script, Jason Mraz, Aerosmith and Cascades 2013 Live in Manila CONCERT – where to get tickets!
There are four LIVE concerts in Manila this summer that I am itching to watch…
1. Jason Mraz LIVE in Manila
Ovation Productions and Music Management International brings back American singer-songwriter, Jason Mraz to Manila. I remember watching his concert last year with Toca Rivera with my Victory church friends. That was back in October 2011 and nay even 2 years, and he’s here again. This year, he plays with his band.

2. The Script Live in Manila Concert
On March 31, 2013, The Script returns to Manila as part of their #3 World Tour at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Midas Promotions brings back one of the most loved bands in the world composed of the trio, Danny O’Donoghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Power.
I also watched the last Script concert in Manila and it was with CW. We both decided to give the Bleachers, also known as General Admission section, a try and experience a concert from that perspective (other than ticket prices are expensive and the seating area we like are already almost sold out). Lo and behold, it was one of the most fun concerts we’ve experienced. We were just chill and we could sing out loud without a care in the world. Money well spent.
