Tomahawk Chops and Grill

Last Tuesday, my brother “Twin” and I scheduled to run in Ultra. Ultra’s oval was renovated and it was closed for almost a year if I remember right. Now that it’s open again, I was excited to arrange jogging / runs with friends and even family. We kicked off our bi-monthly or every other week bonding date last July 1^st after some hiatus. We bumped into some old friends on the track which was nice. They invited us to dinner after but where they wanted to eat would mean very oily food and lots of rice so we gently declined and said we’ll join the next one.

I wasn’t planning to grab dinner since I am on and off with my after-6 diet and just wanted a long overdue massage after but brother wanted to eat first.

We initially set to eat at Gostoso Piri Piri in Kapitolyo since it seems to be the only healthy option nearby –roasted chicken. However, upon seeing a new restaurant I haven’t tried, my nosy tummy led us there.

A sign says they are still on “soft opening.” Menu is very limited with five options for starters, which are onion rings, nachos, French fries, chicken fingers and squid rings.

Grilled or fried chops served with rice and one extra side. “Go dirty” rice option is available for P25. Twin ordered it with side of garlic mushroom.

We decided to order two kinds of entrées and just share it. My brother laughed as he saw both our plates with dirty rice and quipped, “I figured this was your kind of diet or light dinner. Otherwise, you would have ordered more.” I laughed out loud. Seriously, I was thinking of just eating salad and some protein.

The Tomahawk Chop was fairly sized and at least an inch in thickness. It arrived with beautiful grilled marks and a glaze of barbecue sauce that had sweet and smoky notes.

Steak with mashed potato and one extra side. Side of Mac and Cheese. What do you expect from a cheesy lady? 🙂

The steak was thin and was just ok. Between the two orders, I’d probably go for the Tomahawk Chop next time.

Sides include dirty rice, fries, garlic mushroom, buttered corn, string beans, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and plain rice. Tomahawk Chops and Grill also offers dessert with option of chocolate cake or red velvet cake in a jar.
