Petra and Pilar

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Friday night, no plans but somehow the car brought us to Makati.  We couldn’t decide where to go but since I’ve been meaning to buy Delimondo products, we trooped to Petra and Pilar.

Petra and Pilar is your high-end cafeteria.  Menu is not all that different from what you can buy in your normal office canteen.  Price range from PHP 60 – PHP 120.  The dishes are a couple degrees higher than the norm but what sets Petra and Pilar apart is the total ambience when you dine in.  The place is really clean and service is impressive –from the guard who assists in parking to opening of the door to a competent wait staff.  There’s Wi Fi too.  You will enjoy your simple dining experience.

On the Table:

Mussel Soup PHP 60

Bicol Express PHP 115

Laing PHP 60

Chicken Curry PHP 90

2 Rice PHP 20

While waiting for our food to be served, I went to the Delimondo corner to check out their offerings.  I bought 3 cans of the popular ranch-style corned beef (PHP 120 each).

My 1-month no rice diet was cut short to 2 days because Bubba made me eat rice.  I really liked the chicken curry.  Bubba suggested that we should have tried the Beef Mushroom since they claim it’s their bestseller and they never pull it out of their daily menu.

Sango -Ortigas Branch

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

My former officemate Mitch paid me a visit at Tektite and we went out for lunch.  We walked towards Pearl Drive and decided to eat at Sango The Burger Master (Link: http://www.janedchua.com/2008/01/03/sango-burger-master/).  It is so much smaller than their Pasong Tamo branch, but same interior design with the LCD Plasma TV.  The place is well maintained and staff are always courteous.

I brought a Sango Master Cheeseburger to give to Bubba later.  Sango Burger has become his favorite burger joint.  It was the first time Mitch tried Sango and she liked it even eating the burger proved to be messy!!! It was a good lunch with Mitch and I’m glad we were able to catch up on our life’s events.

Happy 8th at the Great Italian Feast

Galileo

We are halfway getting to our 1st year and no better way to celebrate than a romantic Italian dinner at Galileo Enoteca.  Earlier that day, Bubba surprised me when he had Island Rose deliver 1 dozen of long-stemmed roses with a sweet note.  The bouquet was a lush arrangement of the most beautiful white, pink and lavender roses I’ve ever seen.  It was delivered in a big Island Rose well-made box that had an easy to carry handle.  At first glance, I mistaken it for an IRD (decoder) box, which our channel affiliates send us to receive the signal from the satellite dish!  Galileo Deli Enoteca, one of the mostly frequented Italian restaurants, held a two-night Italian feast on August 9 and 10.   From Piedmont to Sicily, from appetizers to dolce, Galileo’s Wine and Food Festival takes you on a sweeping gastronomic tour, showcasing the natural beauty and richness of nine of Italy’s region.  The first night of the feast will be held at its main branch in Mandaluyong located at the ground floor of Reyes Gym, Calbayog cornet Malinao Streets. Then the second and last night will be held at Makati.(Source: Galileo Enoteca website) 2 kinds of Carpaccio.  3 kinds of cheeses: gorgonzola.  Liver pate, tomato salsa, mushroom on bread.  Tofu and bean sprout salad. Chicken lollies, pesto pasta. The ticket was P600 per head.  (Thanks to Floyd Tena for picking up our tickets in advance!) For P1,200, I could have gone to the grocery and whip up 4 dishes that my Bubba would have enjoyed more.
