Philippine All Stars, Mike Swift and Nimbus9

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

After spending another Café Juanita dinner with my former boss and her former team for her despedida, I had to excuse my self earlier than the rest of the team for two other commitments.

1130pm that day saw Bubba and me at Alchemy for the supposedly meet and greet of 50 Cent.  Unfortunately, earlier that day, we were advised that the 50 Cent concert was not pushing through.  Despite the canceled gig, we trooped to Alchemy to see the Philippine All Stars and Mike Swift and Nimbus9 perform.

Great that I was also able to see my friend Bong Andres after so many years!

It was a weeknight well worth staying up for.  The Philippine All Stars were incredible and they are really skilled at their craft –the international awards are really well deserved.

I’d trade my shoe, bag and gadget collection (which is not much sorry) just to be able to dance like them.

The king of congee and noodle chow recently launched a media event to reveal their newest secret ingredient in beef noodles.  Chowking introduces to the press, Chef Liu Zheng Hsuing of Lao Dong, who is the beef noodle king of Taipei.  Established in 1950, Lao Dong restaurant group is one of the oldest chains of restaurants in Taipei.  Beef noodles assured the claim to fame of the family of Chef Liu.  Other than being the beef noodle king, the restaurant also offers a variety of dishes from clear beef soup, fragrant tomato dishes and curry-based soup.

The Jollibee group brought in this renowned chef to share his more than 20 years of experience cooking beef noodles, where it starts with the preparation of the fresh beef.  The beef is boiled for 24 hours with Chinese seasoning which in turn makes the beef really tender.

Media guests witnessed Chef Liu culinary skills as he, assisted by a media participant, prepared different bowls of noodles in front of the crowd.  During his 5-day visit in the country, Chef Liu trained local cooks of Chowking how to make delicious steaming bowl of beef noodles.  This is an addendum to the homegrown training program for Chowking’s cooks who undergoes intensive training on the proper preparation and cooking of all Chowking food offerings.

Chef Liu’s 20 years of cooking expertise coupled with Chowking’s prominent stature as the quick-service Oriental restaurant chain ensure the consistent quality of Chowking foods in its more than 300 stores nationwide.
