Bratpack Knows You Inside Out

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

November 12, Wednesday evening was spent at the media launch of the biggest bag store in town.  Welcome Bratpack’s “flagship” store at Greenbelt 5, their biggest store outlet yet.  True to its independent roots, the store was designed by multi-awarded graphic design house Team Manila.  One cannot help but be amazed as how spacious the area is!  People will flock inside the new store to grab the funky and hip, functional designs the three labels of Bratpack have.  No worries of getting cramped because there’s enough room for everyone!  Benches are available throughout the store making it a non-shopaholic boyfriend/girlfriend/parent friendly place.

The bags are a hefty topic as they have it in all shapes and sizes to suit your needs –or essentially your style!  Brian Kong, Marketing officer of BP, dubs the Bratpack team as the Bag People as the brand brings you various brand bags highlighted in their own distinctive styles.  “I guess you could say there are as much bags as there are personalities.”  Using only the contents of your bag, bag expert Bratpack can tell whether you’re the casual type who has a very laidback attitude, the sporty type who is always on the go or the adventurer whose wanderlust is insatiable, and they have the exact bag that can match the character.

Like JanSport - founded in Seattle by three mountain climbing hippies - that produced the cult classic SuperBreak backpack, has remained a favorite among travelers, thrill seekers, and adventurers who want to get out and discover the world for over 40 years now.

Similarly, Timbuk2 is another brand that is fit for those that lead an active lifestyle. It’s this toughness that made it an instant hit with San Francisco bicycle messengers when it first came out in 1989 and it’s still the same quality that makes Timbuk2 popular among urbanites, students and young professionals until now.

There is also Belgian brand Hedgren that takes inspiration from the perfect symmetry of a cube. Its casual style emphasizes clean lines and elegant accents that create a stylish yet functional design to meet the demanding needs of the modern urban woman.

“It’s not just bags we’re offering, but a lifestyle”, says Kong –with new brands that cater to more lifestyles like skate brand DC and Sector9, Sanuk the surfers and beach bums, Skull Candy for music lovers, as well as Eastpak and Life is Good, Bratpack is conquering a new territory, more people and of course, much more personalities.

The cocktails at the media launch were courtesy of Travel Café, which you can also find in Greenbelt 5.  The games followed afterwards where participants have to answer a series of riddles in order to get a chance to pick which bag a certain item belongs to.  It was evident in everyone’s faces that people were having fun guessing where the mystery items are placed.  After almost 2 hours of excitement, Bratpack gave away 10 bags to the 10 participants who gathered 3 points.

Bags, bags, bags, who can get enough of them?  I wish I could have one for every mood since I’m a multiple personality!
