Evann Says:
King Koopa is the way to go! Despite the tremendously hard shell that wards off almost anybody…Koopa is a softie on the inside just like me — especially to family and friends. Nonetheless, mess with Koopa and it’s game over for you! wahahahahaha!
PS. King Koopa is also a hopeless romantic who perseveres to get the attention of his true love, Princess Toadstool. Alas, it always ends in vain, as she’d rather hang out with a miniature thick-mustached, mushroom-eating loser
Winner may call and schedule his Wii Party at GeiserMaclang Unit 7C, 114 Tuscan Bldg., V. A Rufino St. , Legaspi Village, Makati City. Tel. No. 02.812.8828 / 02.812.9199 / 0917.523.4624.
An acknowledgment email has been sent to your registered email. Congratulations Evann!
Big Love,
Between Bites

My favorite new toy –I bought it more than a year ago at Hobbes and Landes but only got to open the package last week. I really have to rid off this habit of buying stuff and keeping them until they rot.
I’ve been playing with it all week, losing sleep over getting the highest score possible. And finally I did it last Saturday night, $1,999,990…

Wii Party @ Red Box Karaoke
Tuesday, October 7th, 2008Red Box revolutionized the way we look at Karaoke joints –or make that “the way Wii look at Karaoke joints.”
Last night, we attended Red Box’s media launch of their Nintendo Wii cabled rooms. Beginning this month, Red Box selected rooms became equipped with Wii consoles that enables karaoke lovers to alternate between microphone and nunchuk controllers. Singing birds are not only limited to singing their lungs out, Red Box has made karaoke joints more fun and interactive for the audience who don’t sing with the installation of pool tables, poker tables and now, even Wii games are available!
Marcelle took the first whip at Wii playing Tennis against Aj. Dinnertime and I just had to go back to the buffet table for more of their chicken in mustard sauce and pork in spicy sweet sauce. Soon, event host Darwin, who is in his favorite Wii character costume, opened the show by welcoming the guests. Paolo Del Rosario, marketing director of Red Box, gave a short introductory on their Wii offering including packages that include food.
Jayvee also made some announcements regarding Blog Bank and the newly released Blog Bank card.
After some wacky group photos at the Clique Photo booth, we sauntered to one of the rooms and played Wii. Fran and I both played bowling where I embarrassed myself to no end with gutter shots. We tried baseball as well with Arvin while Bubba and Jayvee sparred using the Wii boxing game.
I happened to meet Hannah again (from WordCamp) and Jehzlau at the event.
Paul and I hit the billiards table immediately after another group abandoned the table. This is where I enjoyed the most since I haven’t played billiards for quite some time –3-4 years back. I remember I used to play a lot during freshman and sophomore year in college at the 3rd floor of University Mall, Taft Avenue. I wonder if that place is still open. Back in high school, whenever I take advance classes at YMCA in Binondo, to while away the time from one class to another, I go to the 5th (was it 5th) floor and play pool too. It was great to play billiards again while watching the rest of the group enjoy the Wii.
With Red Box’s extensive list of services, today’s more sophisticated urbanites can enjoy a karaoke experience that is comparable to how most first class cities in the world enjoy their own. “Before Red Box, the karaoke business has never been taken seriously. Mixing art, technology and a lot of fun, we want our customers to sing, eat, drink, play and lounge in the distinctly global Red Box way,” says Paolo.
Red Box really thinks out of the box and makes sure that nobody is left out of the fun. Now there’s more reason to hop to Red Box in groups! Experience a different level of karaoke high. Red Box has branches in Greenbelt 3 and Trinoma. For reservation and inquiries, please call 757-6188 or visit www.redbox.com.ph.
Fely J’s
Wednesday, May 21st, 2008I was excited about Saturday evening because it was going to be a dinner with Bubba’s DLSU friends, where they humorously call the group “berks”. With all the college stories that Bubba has shared with me, I have come to learn their berks “talk” –a set of coded words that only their group understands. I enjoy hanging with the group because they are a bunch of really pleasant people –sensible, light-hearted and laidback. This dinner was a special one because of Alex’s homecoming. Alex works in Singapore but she is in town at the moment. Compared to the rest that I’ve hung out with last year, this was only the 2nd time I’ve met her. She was warm and friendly. Her family is also going to Macau for a trip like Bubba and me in August (can’t August please come any sooner?)
Fely J’s is a modern Filipino bistro in a family setting restaurant amidst the lavish surroundings of the fresh Greenbelt 5. A big framed black and white photo of Fely J against a pink background greets the diners. A pink lamp sits on the table below the photo and huge white tulips. The white ceiling had big circle outlines and low lights. A wall near the entrance door is decorated with slim bamboo sticks. There is a Quiapo saloon enlarged newspaper clipping in one of the frames, the rest are paintings of aged women in pastel colors, which exudes aged elegance. The dining area is surrounded with pink walls with white floral embellishment, chocolate wooden tables while some are round granite tables, and matching brown chairs with orange or cream seats. The wait staff are all clad in black with pink apron.
Since Bubba and I arrived late, everyone went ahead and ordered. I would have wanted to try newer dishes like tilapia with sweet plum sauce or their butterfly butter prawns in curry but I guess the group ordered on the safe side with the more familiar dishes. We had a late lunch at 5pm that I wasn’t able to eat much during dinner anyway.
On the Table:
Celebrity Spotting: Senator Chix Escudero at Fely J’s
Fish Out of Water (Into Your Plate)
Monday, May 5th, 2008As you enter the restaurant, the white walls create a breath of serenity like watching the reflection of the sky on calm waters. Wall pillars have black and white photos that have a stamp or postcard effect. Silver curled tube snake serves as the holder of blue LED lights. The kitchen has big circular windows, which give you a see-through what’s going on inside the hot area. It reminded me of an aquarium. The ceiling was designed with waves, which creates a ripple appearance. One wall had mounted square paintings. There are two different sets of tables and chairs, the long tables with blue and green (aqua color) leather seats, while the single tables have abaca-weaved chairs. All tables are covered with brown Manila paper and a single white tulip in a clear vase is placed neatly on top. The courteous wait staff was duly clad in blue uniform.
