AXN Beyond event held at curfew-stricken Embassy Superclub.

I haven’t been to the Club for ages.  The last time I was here was during the Nokia Soul of the Night event (http://www.janedchua.com/2008/04/10/nokia-soul-of-the-night-party/).  Events are the primary drivers for me to go to Embassy.  Otherwise, I’ve stopped bothering since a while back.

Angie of AXN Beyond, who I’ve first met during the TARA 2 Promo Mall Event at Trinoma (http://www.janedchua.com/2008/05/09/839/), graced the event all the way from Singapore.  Tony Tony of Magic 89.9 hosted the party.  Spotted Rovilson Fernandez and Erik Manna.

July 26.  Right after the Lifehouse concert, we headed straight to Warehouse 135 for Carlo’s birthday bash.  Carlo made my Sabiclub stint so much brighter and memorable.  What started as a simple relationship went from a working relationship to great friendship.  We used to have a lot of breakfasts together at work because we’re usually the first ones in the office.  Either that or he lets me have all of his breakfast.  Long has it’s been since the first time I met him and he turned me off with his smoking.  He was turned off with the weird blush application on my face.  Haha.  Long were the days I’d get caught in the middle of crossfire between him and his ex, who’s also a good friend of mine.  I love them both though.  

The last time Chris and I bonded with Carlo and Shiela as a couple was during our trip almost a year ago to Subic.  We stayed there for one night and went on a Zoobic Safari adventure the next day.  I had so much fun bonding with another couple, which we can very much relate with.  The next trip boiling with this couple might be an out-of-the-country thing, which will be very exciting!

At the advent of the 12^th installment of URCC, Supremacy, a pre-event was held at Warehouse 135 June 28, 2008.  What a long day it has been starting at 7am with a Sky Cable event at Mall of Asia.  11pm, I was right in front of a very intense fight at Warehouse, which CW was refereeing.

Standing there watching the match up close is really something else.  You can feel the intensity from the barely clad bodies on the mats.  I cannot wait to watch the upcoming URCC event.

After collecting a win over Frank The Crank Camacho, Caloy Baduria will be back in the ring waging his middleweight belt against Lakay Wushu’s Edward Folayang.  It’s going to be an exciting match this coming Saturday since these two fighters’ previous matches are correlated to each other.  Caloy has defeated all his opponents by technical knockouts but former URCC champion Allan Co handed his solitary loss.  On the other corner, Edward wreaked Allan’s clean record and gave him his first ever defeat.

The night of July 5 promises some really exciting match-ups.  URCC is your source of the best Pinoy MMA fights in the country where top players from different disciplines battle it out inside the ring.

After handing me tickets for the Premiere of Narnia, Yssah informed me about the get-together plan of our friends that Friday night.  Bubba, even when he was already in Makati for BJJ training at Punch-out Gym, went to SJ to pick me up.  We arrived in Masas past 11pm and met with Carlo, Camille, Yssah and Polo.

I haven’t hung out in Greenbelt for drinks in a long time.  There were spurts of getting invited to several events and get-togethers that we’ve attended but since Greenbelt 2 has changed 2 years ago, we’d rather take our drinks some place else.  Places where the objective is not SBS.  See and Be Seen.  Now, you see young broods on a Friday night feeling proud of polluting the environment and their lungs (Ok, I know the Sabi Marlboro Team all smokes…  Please don’t wring my neck…) entirely blocking the whole walkway! 

Anyway, it is the company that really makes a difference to where you are.  What a fun night bonding with my sabi friends!!! Mon, May, Shiela, Mike, NA were missing in action.

Since we can’t talk much in the noise, we decided to transfer to Tiananmen (after checking Ziggurat).  Good thing it wasn’t as full as it used to be and we got a good area on a Friday night (or Saturday morning) at around 1am.  Thanks to Tiananmen and Yssah’s plea power for not charging a corkage fee for the pasta I brought for them.

I still felt so tired from our company outing Thursday to Friday in Calatagan but it was still a packed Saturday schedule that was ahead of me.  Iron Man, which I thoroughly enjoyed, was better than I expected.  I didn’t think Robert Downey Jr. (much that I love him) was the right cast as the superhero, but his fit the character perfectly with his usual cocky demeanor. 

After a power nap at home, we headed straight to Barcino at the Fort.  Barcino is located right beside the fairly new Basilio restaurant.  We had wine and cheese to celebrate Bev’s 26^th birthday.  Bev Tiu is Christian’s long time friend, whose aura is of an easy and delightful soul.  Behind those gentle eyes though is an adventurous girl who dives, surfs and tours the world.  (Looking forward to diving or surfing together Bev!)  It was my first time at Barcino, which is a small 2-storey wine restaurant.  Their tapas were a good match to the wines (I was tipsy to remember the name) that were served and reasonably priced.  I especially like Datiles con Bacon, which was sweet dates wrapped with bacon (PHP 270 for 6 pieces).

After Barcino, off we went to Embassy for Alvin’s birthday.  I almost didn’t make it because I threw up twice before leaving Barcino.  I think I had too much wine or maybe it was the tobacco (Cheryl, Ryan and Bev were puffing) that made me feel nauseated.  We even bumped into Trina, Christian’s former officemate in Asia Brewery, in Embassy.
