Thought Bubble: December 16, 2009
I have been planning to start the category “Thought Bubble” since 3 months ago. But like everything else, it’s been delayed because I have too much on my hands lately. My blog backlog is piling up. This online project and some provincial projects are yet to be completed –sometimes I feel like throwing up with all the pressure on my back. With many things on my plate (both professional and personal), I’m afraid I’m bound to make a misstep somewhere.
Thought Bubble is precisely that. It will be anything that I have on my mind. This is going to be the space where I just mouth off whatever is on my mind.

I’m feeling very tired lately, both mentally and physically. I have no complaints though because being busy means I am able enough to spend my time productively. The positive thinking helps me through it.

I know I’m spreading myself thin. I cannot wait for February 2010 to begin. I hope the pace will slow down a bit by then.

I want to share quickly that there are so many blessings God is throwing my way lately. I will make time to recognize that I feel blessed despite the weary mind and body.
First, I was staked a seat in the recently concluded poker tournament at the Metro Card Club. Seats are usually won in satellite or pocket tournaments. The best I finished was fourth place at Metro 500, coming from a chip lead and losing my stack. My lucky star found me and suddenly I find myself gifted with a seat (worth PHP 17,000) for the biggest year-ender poker tournament in the country with PHP 10 million cash prize pot (PHP 3 million to the first place and the rest divided depending on the pay-out arrangement). Safe to say that I wasn’t anywhere near that prize but I definitely gained another tournament experience. Who knows, maybe next time. *shrugs*
Last weekend, I was fortunate enough to find time to volunteer for Project Brave Kids’ Christmas party at the Philippine Children Medical Center in Quezon City. The following day, which was Sunday, I was entertained greatly by Speciabilities’ Christmas musical at Pace Academy. My sister Joyce (otherwise known as my bundle of joy-ce!) had two substantial parts in the musical play. She danced the hula and also sang Christmas songs. Being the very proud big sister, I was beaming like crazy while hooting and cheering.
Bubba and I were feeling spent, but decided to still go all the way to the south of Manila to attend the Samsung event since we already confirmed our attendance. Glad that I did, it was a fun event where I played a few “fair” games, it was great to see the gray-orange-blue-black horizon of Manila Bay, and I bumped into an old poker friend, Marco Aventajado, who I played heads up with at the Ice Bar poker tournament and reconnected with him. Plus I got to bond with Fritz, Ajay and Rico during dinner at A Veneto and received The Spa certificates –Somebody up there knows I badly need a pampering massage. A lot of good karma is going around.

The best surprise was my name got called in the raffle and I won a spanking new Samsung Corby phone. Quite neat, huh?
With the December rush and ongoing projects, this week has been a whirlwind to me but with some good notes in it as well. Two career opportunities came up that I might be exploring by next week. I received three orders of Bite Me pasta (from Bubba haha
) and it felt good to be in the kitchen again cooking. With good friends last night, we finished packing the goody bags for Bubba’s outreach project this coming Sunday at Virlanie Foundation.
I can’t believe this year is coming to an end. 2009 just flew by. But I’m sure I have more blessings that came with the year than I realize.
Pop the Bubble!
